FAQ

Questions, answered plainly

The same way we answer questions about your policy — directly, without hedging, and honest about what we don't know.

What is BNIE for?
Working out whether your insurance is actually good for you. You upload a policy you already hold; BNIE reads it, lays out your coverage, limits, deductibles, and exclusions in plain English, and points out the gaps, unusual terms, and costs worth questioning. Reading the document is how it works — knowing where you stand is the point.
Is this a quote comparison site?
No, and we don't intend to become one. Comparison sites are built to find you a cheaper premium. A cheaper premium can quietly come with a higher deductible, lower liability limits, or a coverage dropped that you'd want at claim time. The question worth answering is whether a policy is better for you, not whether it's cheaper — and answering that requires reading the coverage, which is what BNIE does. Comparing a quote against your current policy isn't available yet; it's what we're building toward.
Which kinds of insurance does it handle?
Personal lines work best today: auto, home, renters, and umbrella policies. It also reads many commercial documents. Because policies vary so much by carrier, state, and form, BNIE normalizes whatever it finds and tells you honestly when something wasn't in your document.
Will this actually save me money?
We won't promise a number, and you should be wary of anyone who does before reading your policy. What BNIE reliably does is show you what you're paying for, flag where premium and protection look out of balance, and give you the specific questions to bring to your agent or carrier. Sometimes the honest answer is that your coverage is fine and switching would cost you protection.
Whose side are you on?
Yours. BNIE doesn't sell insurance, isn't an agency or a carrier, takes no commissions, and has no financial relationship with any insurer. Nothing we show you is influenced by which policy you hold or whether you switch. Our only interest is being useful enough that you keep using us.
Is this insurance advice?
No. BNIE explains the document you uploaded and points out things worth reviewing. It is not an insurance agency, broker, attorney, or public adjuster, does not sell policies, and does not give legal, actuarial, or licensed insurance advice. Your policy and your licensed agent remain the authority.
Can you help me with a denied claim?
Not yet. Reading claim correspondence against your policy language — finding the clauses an insurer relied on and helping you organize a response — is a direction we're working toward, but it isn't available today, and BNIE would not be providing legal representation or licensed claims advocacy if it were.
What happens to my documents?
They are protected with military-grade 256-bit encryption in transit and at rest, stored in private storage no one else can browse, and isolated to your account. Deleting a document removes the file and the structured data extracted from it from our active systems — see our Privacy Policy for what that doesn't cover, like backups and security logs.
Do you train AI models on my policy?
No. Your documents are not used to train or fine-tune any model, ours or anyone else's. Answers are generated using a private, isolated model instance inside our AWS environment — never a public third-party API. See our Privacy Policy for the precise distinction between "not used for training" and "never processed by any infrastructure provider," which are different claims.
What if it gets something wrong?
That's why every answer carries a citation. If BNIE can't find support for an answer in your documents, it says so rather than guessing. Your policy document is always the source of truth, and we designed the interface so verifying an answer is one tap.
How much does it cost?
